Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a small craft advisory which is in effect from 6 p.m., June 25 until 6 a.m., June 26.
According to a media release, officials expect: “Significant wave height magnitudes along the north, east and south of the island: Moderate to rough in open water with swells ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 metres and increasing.”
All marine craft operators should note the following possibilities along the coast in these zones to the east, northeast and southeast of the island.
The statement warned mariners that “due to the imminent marine threat, large open water swells can be hazardous to some vessels”.
“Operation of smaller vessels can be difficult at times due to large swells.” (PR)
