Programme to get communities active

A programme has been launched to encourage an active lifestyle.

BajeFit: Keeping the Community Alive, is a joint effort of The National Sports Council (NSC) and the Youth Development Programme.

The progrmme is designed to get people of all ages to be active.

A statement released by Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS) said the free fitness sessions will be led by the Sports Council’s coaches. 

“The sessions will run from Monday, June 29, until Friday, August 7, 2020. Sessions will be held on week days except Thursdays. Sessions at playing fields that are equipped with lights will run from 4:30 p,m. to 5:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., while those playing fields without lights will run from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.”

Registration forms may be collected from the NSC office at the gymnasium of the Garfied Sobers Sports Complex or from youth commissioners.

Participants may also sign up on the day.

In keeping with Government’s COVID-19 protocols, all participants must register and submit to a temperature check. Hand sanitiser will be provided at all venues. Participants will also be required to have towels and water, and must maintain a social distance during these sessions.

In addition, participants must be dressed appropriately, which includes correct footwear, such as sneakers. Parents of participants under the age of 18 will be required to fill out a consent form. (PR/KG)
