Critically low water levels at one of the most important reservoirs have forced the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) to stop pumping to customers in some rural areas.
And if the rains don’t come soon, it could get even worse for residents of St John, St Thomas, St Joseph and parts of St George.
Acting general manager of the BWA, Dr John Mwansa, delivered the sobering news to people in those rural areas yesterday, after he and Minister of Water Resources Wilfred Abrahams along with a media team went more than 300 feet down into the station at Bowmanston, St John, to get a first-hand look at water levels.
Mwansa said the low levels were extremely concerning to the BWA. (BA)
