The parents of the 11-year-old boy killed by the actions of three bullies at his school will be in court in a month as a judge contemplates a $50 000 compensation package for them.
Justice Randall Worrell informed defence attorneys and counsel for the Crown of his possible decision when the three former Princess Margaret Secondary School students were back before him in the No. 2 Supreme Court yesterday.
Maria Antoinette Goddard, then 12 now 22, of Parish Land; Doniko Javier Alleyne, also then 12, of Balls Land, and Shaquille Shamar Khallel Bradshaw, then 14, now 24, also of Balls Land, all in Christ Church, were found guilty of unlawfully killing 11-year-old Ian Gibson on September 20, 2009. Gibson had only recently entered secondary school when the incident occurred.
“Needless to say, if the court determines that this matter is not to be dealt with by way of a custodial sentence, the question that has to be asked, as far as this court is concerned, is what kind of justice is it going to look like to the family of this boy,” noted Mr Justice Worrell. (HLE)
