Immigration officer on drug charges

Immigration officer Adrian Ricardo Beckles, 41, of Skeete’s Road, Jackman, St Michael was charged with the following offences on Monday: possession of a controlled drug – cannabis, trafficking, intent to supply and importation.

A statement from police today said: “On Friday 17th, July 2020, the accused went to the customs facility at the Grantley Adams International Airport to collect a package.The package was searched by Customs Enforcement in his presence. Contained in the package were two air purifiers. A search of those purifiers revealed thirteen packages of cannabis weighing 10.5 kgs. He was subsequently arrested and charged for the mentioned offences.”

Beckles is expected to appear at the District ‘B’ Magistrate’s Court today. (PR)
