The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring an area of low pressure currently embedded within the monsoon trough, located near 9N 39W at 0800LST.

This is about 2280 km or 1420 miles to the east south-east of Barbados and the system is moving towards the west at 10 mph/ 16 km/h, according to a statement from The Met Office.

“This activity is expected to continue for the next 24 hours with a gradual turn towards the west, north-west after. Convection remains disorganised as environmental conditions are currently not conducive for rapid development of the system.”

The Met Office said as the system tracks westward across the central Atlantic, slow development is possible. There may be some wind shear and mid-level dry air intrusion which may have an impact on organised convective activity and any rapid intensification as it tracks westward.
