West Indies captain Jason Holder is expected to be a pallbearer at next week’s funeral service for former batting great Sir Everton Weekes.
The nine Test players and four reserves now on tour of England are scheduled to return for the official funeral service slated to be held at Kensington Oval on July 30 starting at 9:30 a.m.
One of Sir Everton’s sons, Andy, a former top schoolboy cricketer, and musician, will be coming in from Germany for the service.
Tributes will be delivered by president Conde Riley on behalf of the Barbados Cricket Association, former president Owen Estwick on behalf of the Barbados Cricket League, and president Adrian King, representing Empire Club.
Sir Everton, one of the famous 3Ws, passed away on July 1 at the age of 95.
The interment will take place at the 3Ws Oval at the Cave Hill campus of the University of the West Indies. (MK)
