The protocol for public gatherings in excess of 500 people will be relaxed on July 26, The Day of National Significance, and not July 24 as previously indicated by Government.

In a media statement today, the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit also said “the other date to which this relaxation in the protocol applies remains – Saturday, August 1, which is Emancipation Day”.

On these two days, gatherings beyond the current 500-person limit will be allowed, depending on the size of the proposed venue.

Anyone wishing to use this provision must apply to the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit, which may be reached at [email protected].

Permission is also required for all public and entertainment events up to a maximum of 500 people, the statement noted. (BGIS)
