Three former employees of the upscale boutique of Gatsby Incorporated have been awarded just over $162 000 collectively by the Employment Rights Tribunal (ERT).

The decision was handed down by chairman Christopher Blackman when the ERT convened yesterday morning at Warrens Office Complex.

Blackman noted the three former sales associates, who together had just under 50 years of service between them, were dismissed in April 2014, with the West Coast boutique contending the dismissal was for purposes of business reorganisation.

However, the Termination Certificate filed with the National Insurance Scheme said they were all dismissed for misconduct in refusing “to adhere to the company’s amended commission structure in light of the company’s economic downturn”. (RA)
