There are no restrictions in place which will prevent Barbadians from going about their usual Saturday business.

That is the message from Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams today in response to numerous queries and uncertainty among the public about Tropical Storm Gonzalo.

The Met Office discontinued the tropical storm warning just after 8 p.m. on Friday, and said based on the system’s present track, the threat of storm-force winds to Barbados had diminished significantly.

“As concerns businesses and the ability to operate your businesses and go about your normal Saturday business, there are no restrictions in place with respect to Barbados in this regard,” Abrahams said.

He said the island would get some wind and some rain later but not enough to constitute a storm warning and urged Barbadians to take the same precautions as they would with any bad weather event.

However, an advisory remains in place for seabathers and small craft operators. (PR/SAT)
