Protocols in place for Sir Everton’s funeral

The official funeral of the late cricketing icon, Sir Everton DeCourcey Weekes, KCMG, GCM, OBE, will be held  on Thursday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at Kensington Oval.

The interment will follow at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. The body will lie in repose for viewing at the Empire Club on Tuesday, July 28, and at Legends Cricket Club on Wednesday, July 29, from from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Condolence books will be opened at the viewings.

There will be no viewing at the service which is open to the public. People are asked to be seated by 9 a.m., however, the gates of Kensington Oval will open at 7:45 a.m.

Wearing of masks, temperature checks, hand sanitising and physical distancing will be enforced. The funeral will be live streamed on CBC and the Barbados Government Information Service’s Facebook page at gisbarbados.
