A Barbados Water Authority (BWA) crew is today repairing a 16-inch burst main at Mount Standfast, St James which was fixed yesterday but ruptured again this morning.

BWA said customers in St Michael and St James may experience low water pressure or outages while this emergency work is being conducted.

“Pumping from the Ionics Desalination Plant and the Pump Station at Trents has had to be stopped temporarily to allow the repair work on this large-sized main to be completed. The stoppage has in turn caused the facilities at Lancaster and Apes Hill to suffer low levels and presently be functioning at a reduced capacity,” a statement said.

BWA said customers will be updated throughout the day. The BWA said personnel are also today investigating reports of suspected bursts in Hinds Hill and St Stephen’s in St Michael. The BWA apologises for the inconvenience these disruptions in service may cause. (PR)
