The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) has been monitoring the water supply to the areas fed from the Castle Grant Reservoir and today advised that low pressure and intermittent water supply are likely in St Joseph, St Andrew and St Thomas.
“Two consecutive bursts on the 16-inch main which takes water from the Ionics Desalination Plant along the West Coast to the connected stations of Trents, Lancaster and Apes Hill were complicated by technical issues at the Plant when it was restarted,” a media release said.
While the mains were successfully repaired and water is flowing at normal pressure in the network, it will take time for the connected systems to recover fully.
“The Authority has been doing its best to supply these districts via water tanker and community tank in the interim. The BWA sincerely thanks its customers for their patience . . . .” (PR)
