A 23-year-old Christ Church resident, who was attempting to leave Barbados without the permission of the court, was remanded to HMP Dodds on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip, police went to the Grantley Adams International Airport and apprehended Emily Regina Duncanson who was attempting to board a 5:35 p.m. flight on a one-way ticket.

The Vauxhall resident had previously appeared in court on May 16, 2020, charged with breach of curfew the previous day. She was on bail of $3 000 with one surety, pending the hearing of that matter, having pleaded not guilty.

When Duncanson reappeared before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes at District ‘D’ Magistrates Court, Cane Garden, St Thomas on Tuesday, she could not give an acceptable explanation for her attempting to leave the jurisdiction without permission.

Weekes severely reprimanded Duncanson before he remanded her to Dodds until September 15, 2020 when the matter is set to continue at the District ‘A’ Criminal Court #1. (PR/SAT)
