Out of the 1 079 applications submitted for the Welcome Stamp, 12 people who were approved are already living in Barbados.
That was announced yesterday by Deputy Chief Immigration Officer Margaret Inniss during a press conference at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Wildey, St Michael.
She said the applications had been received from 764 individuals and 315 families from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Nigeria and India.Â
Inniss said a few were already in the country when they applied.
“We’ve had approximately 12 persons arrive in Barbados from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, and those are our dominant markets. There are some persons who were already on vacation or were working remotely from Barbados, and due to COVID-19 measures and the closing of borders, they were unable to get back to their homeland.
