Top horse race trainer Saffie Joseph Jr suffered a disappointing weekend on the track as all five of his stake runners failed to hit the boards at four different venues in the United States.

Leading the list was NY Traffic, who came home eighth in the 146th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Joseph Jnr feared no better on Saturday when his quartet of Math Wizard, Sound Machine, Merseyside and Grumps Little Tots were all beaten into fifth place.

In the Run For The Roses won impressively by Authentic ridden by John Velazquez, NY Traffic was soundly defeated this time around after stalking the winner from the gates. The Joseph Jnr colt pressed the pace in second position ahead of Storm The Court and 3-5 favourite Tiz The Law. (LY)
