More than 400 people applied for 100 house spots offered during yesterday’s National Housing Corporation (NHC) land fair at Vespera Gardens, Lancaster, St James.

The event, which began at 10 a.m., saw 300 applications in by 1 p.m. and another 140 people waiting to hand in their paperwork.

Speaking to the media following a ground-breaking ceremony for the road servicing the new development, Minister of Housing and Lands Dr William Duguid said that when one added yesterday’s applicants to the thousands backlogged at the NHC for many years, the picture was not a pretty one.

He revealed the NHC was in the process of sanitising its list of applicants accumulated over the years to determine where the needs were. (CLM)
