Funding is necessary for young Barbadian riders to achieve their full potential in the sport of cycling.

This was the view of chairman of Cockspur, Damian McKinney, following the recently concluded Barbados Cycling Union’s National Road Race Championships at the Windward and Bushy Park circuit in St Philip.

“I think it is very difficult and we are in danger of losing a bunch of people who can punch well above their weight globally and it is because of a lack of funding. We have cyclists here who are amazing and come from all walks of life, absolutely all walks of life so there is no shortage of motivation. The problem is good old-fashioned funding,” he told NATION SPORT.  (RG)
