It was an emotional moment for Barbados Labour Party (BLP) stalwart Gline Clarke, as he was bestowed the party’s highest honour, the Grantley Adams Award.

Clarke, who is stepping away from elective politics after serving the people of St George North for 26 unbroken years, was honoured along with several long-standing supporters at the BLP’s 82nd Annual Conference Cocktail Reception and Awards Ceremony, which was held at St George Secondary School on Friday night.

In accepting the honour, Clarke, who will be taking up the post of High Commissioner to Canada, said he was receiving the award on behalf of his former constituents.

“This award truly represents the people of St George North, who have given me the honour of representing them. I want to say to the people of St George that I will always treasure you, I will always love you and I will always represent you wherever I go,” said an emotional Clarke. (CLM)
