Get-tough call on road deaths

Road safety advocate Sharmane Roland-Bowen wants jail time for those responsible for road fatalities.

She made the call yesterday while also placing a number of signs near dangerous potholes as she marked United Nations World Day Of Remembrance For Road Traffic Victims And Their Families 2020 and Road Safety Month.

One of the markers was at Graeme Hall, Christ Church, where Richard Augustus Junior Hinds, 40, of Rock Dundo, St James, died on February 1 this year. His family was on hand for the moment.

Roland-Bowen, president of the Barbados Road Safety Association, said the families of those who died in the tragedies felt it.
