Minister of Labour Colin Jordan has given management of G4S Secure Solutions Barbados until 4 o’clock today to submit a plan that would put all security officers on the same wage level.

President of the G4S division of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), Ormond Mayers, told the Weekend Nation the workers had also reduced their pay increase demand from 20 to 12.5 per cent.

On Wednesday, officers staged the second protest in a week outside the company’s Brighton, Black Rock, St Michael headquarters seeking a salary increase, better working conditions, uniforms and equal pay for equal work.

“The company is forced to come back with a response to our 12.5 per cent which we put on the table. It was 20 per cent originally, but we decided to make some modifications to that based on what the company can afford to pay. This will cover the period 2014 to 2019,” Mayers said. (RA)
