Burglar next door put behind bars

Date:

THE TEARS AND PLEAS of Stancha Clerona Augustine did nothing to move the court on Monday.

And while Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes noted he had considered her guilty plea, he said the fact that the burglar led two masked men into the home of an 82-year-old woman, who then manhandled her and robbed her of money was deserving of a 24-month custodial sentence.

“Please, Sir,” Augustine cried as the sentence was imposed in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

“This is so serious that . . .,” the Chief Magistrate said before he was interrupted by the convicted burglar. (HLE)
