As the number of COVID-19 cases in Barbados continue to rise, Bayview Hospital announced visitor restrictions to the medical facility at St Paul’s Avenue, Bayville, St Michael.

Correspondence signed by hospital administrator Julie Reid says effective immediately, all visits are suspended and anyone who is not on official business will not be allowed entry.

However, exceptions will be made for paediatric patients who will be allowed to have one parent or guardian around the clock and the partner of a maternity patient will also be allowed to remain around the clock once a negative COVID-19 PCR test result is presented.

The hospital says the nursing team and physicians will provide patient updates via phone, video calls and other technologies.

The policy will be reviewed as more information comes from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Centre, Barbados has 556 cases of COVID-19. (PR/SAT)
