It will be 28 days on remand for a man accused of raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter multiple times over a two-year span.

The St George man appeared yesterday in Criminal Court No. 1 of the District “A” Magistrates’ Court, where he was not required to plead to engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl between January 1, 2019, and December 31 last year.

Prosecutor Sergeant Victoria Taitt objected to bail, citing the “tender age” of the complainant and the serious nature of the offence.

“My instructions are that the offences were not only vaginally, but anally and orally as well, with severe damage, causing her to be hospitalised,” Taitt said.

The sergeant added that the accused was considered to be the girl’s stepfather and she therefore needed to be protected from him. She added there was another minor girl in the house who also needed protection. (HLE)
