DLP challenge to Barbadians

THE DEMOCRATIC LABOUR PARTY (DLP) says it is set on rebuilding not just the party, but the country, and president Verla De Peiza wants Barbadians to join them.

During an online church service from Restoration Ministries yesterday to mark a week of celebration leading up to Errol Barrow Day on January 21, she urged members to use what was written in their party passports as a beacon during the COVID-19 crisis.

“What really jumps out at me from this document, created by the founding father [Errol Barrow] that we celebrate in the days to come, is how we craft and create a Barbados going forward that is relevant to more than just a few.

“How we have economic activity whilst not at all compromising our social construct. That we recognise the role we have to play in making Barbadians feel like they are part of their country in ensuring that our economic activity is not reserved just for a few, but as many as possible get to participate. That those who are falling down are given that hand by our social web and network, that we’re able to pull them up [and] not just pull them along,” she said. (RA)
