Coach Estwick concerned about batting woes

The unsatisfactory batting performances from the West Indies during the three-match One-Day-International (ODI) series against Bangladesh is a major worrying factor among the coaching staff.

Assistant coach Roddy Estwick says the Caribbean side is yet to pose suitable targets for the hosts and improvement is a must as the Windies shift their attention towards a two-match Test series.

In the first ODI, the Windies were restricted to 122 with Barbadian Kyle Mayers top-scoring with 40 on debut while Rovman Powell mustered 41 in the second match as they surrendered the series with a 2-0 deficit.

“It must be a concern. Firstly, we haven’t batted the 50 overs out in the first two games and once you don’t bat 50 overs in a one-day game you will be under pressure. We are not getting the scores that we are looking at. The pitches for some of the new players have been a challenge and we haven’t been getting partnerships,” he said. (AGB)
