Dear Helen,
Are there any advances in medicine to help premature ejaculation, or is it still only a mind over matter situation? –
Martin
Dear Martin,
From what I understand, it is far more likely that this is merely a mind over matter situation than anything that there’s a ‘wonder drug’ for. I’m not a doctor specialising in this, though, so next time you’re visiting your GP/ family physician, ask them if they know of anything. That would actually give them the opportunity to ask you a few more ‘men’s health’ questions and give you a bit of a health check, too. If it’s a new change, with the same partner, then you have the perfect ‘excuse’ to take you to see them – as with any new health changes – and have a heart-toheart with them. They won’t mind and may know someone you can speak to in more depth to try and work out why it’s happening for you.
It’s something you can, though, train yourself out of without going to see them. If you’re a regular masturbator, for example, you know what triggers you or how to slow yourself down on your own. With a partner involved, then communication is the key and not feeling anxious about your performance. Many men find that merely ignoring the initial ejaculation allows them to then enjoy intercourse for longer, ahead of the next one.
I hope the situation resolves easily for you, Martin. – Helen
