The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) is pressing ahead with its preparations for this summer’s 2020 Olympic Games after new coronavirus safety measures were announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Tuesday.

BOA vice-present Cameron Burke expressed his confidence in the measures to be put in place and reiterated that in addition to the athletes preparing adequately, their safety and well-being was paramount.

Within those regulations, the Olympic village will operate like a biosecure bubble and athletes must enter the village at least five days before the start of their disciplines.

They must also depart within two days after their event is completed. Those residing in the bubble must present a negative PCR test on arrival and further COVID-19 testing will be conducted every four days. (NM)
