The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) has adjusted its water tanker COVID-19 safety protocols.
When collecting water from BWA tankers, customers must:
- Wear face masks and ensure that they have sanitised their hands and containers
- Place their containers under the tap and
- Step back a minimum of six feet.
BWA said in a statement today that customers must refrain from touching “any of the water tanker’s surfaces”.
“The tanker assistant will fill the containers and then allow the customers to step forward and retrieve them. When filling community tanks, water tanker operators, who will be outfitted with face masks and shields, will be sanitising the individual tanks and the immediate area around them with a disinfecting solution.
“During this process, the public will again be required to step back a minimum of six feet. When the tanker crews are replenishing personal water tanks, they will be wearing full protective gear (tyvek suits), and will be sanitising the tanks and the surrounding area with a disinfecting bleach solution.
The BWA reminded customers that the wearing of face masks and practice of social distancing are mandatory.
“Failure to adhere to these stipulations will mean the non-delivery of the service,” BWA said. (PR)
