National talk on tourism

A major national consultation on Barbados’ tourism is being planned for later this month.

Minister of Tourism Senator Lisa Cummins said the initiative was being undertaken in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank and the United Nations World Tourism as local tourism planners were on a mission to “reimagine” the sector for the future.

The consultation, she explained, would examine issues such as the cultural and domestic authenticity of the island’s tourism product, prospects for youth entrepreneurship in the sector and involvement in the sector at the community level.

Visitor profiles and new tourism worker profiles would also be included in the scope of the examination. (GC)
