National women’s goalkeeper Cadijah Mars has been appointed interim team manager for the Barbados senior men’s football team in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign.

The 20-member playing squad is expected to be announced today during a zoom press conference but Barbados Football Association’s president Randy Harris yesterday confirmed Mars’ appointment in a social media post.

“Great respect to all women on their day . . . special respect to Cadijah Mars. Manager of the Barbados’ senior national team for their tour to DR [Dominican Republic],’’ Harris declared.

Mars, who is also an emerging referee, last officiated internationally in two rounds of the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Under-14 Championships in 2019. (AG-B)
