20 new virus cases, 25 people recover

Twenty people – seven men and 13 women – have gone into isolation after testing positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The new cases were identified among the 480 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Thursday, March 18.  There are now 184 active cases on the island.

Twenty-five people were released from isolation, bringing the total recoveries to 3 282. Thirty-nine people have died from the viral illness.

Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 3 512 confirmed cases, comprising 1 834 men and 1 678 women.

The public health laboratory has so far conducted 135 501 tests.

Meanwhile, 2 189 people were vaccinated under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 on March 18.

To date, 58 214 vaccinations have been completed, comprising 24 297 men and 33 917 women. (BGIS)
