Tridents favoured to topple Anguilla

The Barbados Tridents are favourites to beat Anguilla in their second match of the Concacaf FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Group D tonight at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium in the Dominican Republic.

But head coach Russell Latapy says Barbados must not underestimate Anguilla, who are the second lowest ranking nation (209th) on the international football charts.

The Tridents are coming off the heels of a narrow 1-0 defeat by Panama last Thursday while Anguilla were thrashed 6-0 by the Dominican Republic over the weekend.

“It doesn’t matter whom we play against. We have to go out there and work and fight and I’m sure this game is going to be no different. There are no easy games in international football so once we stress this to the players, that it doesn’t matter whom we play against and we go out there and give the best we can give … then the result could be in our favour,” Latapy told a live Zoom press conference yesterday morning.
