Eight new virus cases, nine people recover

Eight new coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases were identified on Saturday, April 17, from the 365 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The new cases comprise two women and six men. Nine people also recovered and were discharged. There are currently 84 people in isolation.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded, since March last year, now stand at 3 781 (1 839 women and 1 942 men), and 3 665 people have recovered. There have been 44 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 148 641 tests since February 2020.

To date, 69 490 vaccinations – 28 671 men and 40 819 women – have been administered as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. (BGIS)
