The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC) said a short while ago in a bulletin on its Facebook Page that there was another explosive eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano in St Vincent and the Grenadines at 4:49 p.m. today.

The bulletin said that prior to this eruption, it had been 52 hours since the last explosive event.

UWI-SRC said there have now been 30 identifiable explosive events since the beginning of this eruptive phase on April 9.

The Centre will continue to monitor and give updates.

Lead scientist monitoring the volcano Professor Richard Robertson said last week that explosive eruptions of the La Soufriere Volcano could continue for up to a year. (KG)
