People aged 50 and over will be the first to test a new appointment system for coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness will be piloting its new appointment portal, this week, for people aged 50 and over who wish to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The pilot phase for the website, www.vaccine.gov.bb, will start from tomorrow, Wednesday, April 21, and run until Friday, April 23.  People in the targeted age group will be able to log on and book appointments, to get their first shot of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine on Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25, at specific locations.

The pilot appointment system is only for the administration of first doses, and is aimed at testing the portal to see how it works for wider use going forward.

To make an appointment, people must not have had a positive coronavirus (COVID-19) test within the last three to six months.  They will be required to enter their personal information, including mobile number and/or email address, as well as medical information, such as allergies and non-communicable diseases, in the required fields.

This information will be kept in strictest confidence and will only be shared with the relevant public health authorities.

Individuals may only book one appointment time slot per person and may reschedule if necessary.  After submitting information, a confirmation will be sent either by email or text message (via cell phone).

Clients will be required to bring confirmation of their appointment along with their identification card to the vaccination site.

For further assistance, call 832-0263, 832-3906, 832-0194, 832-5893 or 832-0583, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., from Wednesday, April 21. (BGIS)
