The following statement was issued by the Democratic Labour Party on the sentencing of former Government minister Donville Inniss in a New York court on Tuesday:

“This indeed is a sad day for all of us in the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) family and for the country.

Donville has always been a valuable member of our team and our compassion is extended to him and his family.

The justice system has spoken up to this point and we all must listen.”

Inniss was sentenced to 24 months in prison followed by a further 21 of supervised release. He was convicted of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

He appeared before United States Judge Kiyo Matsumoto of the Eastern District Court of New York.  (PR/SAT)
