The first Saturday in May (Kentucky Derby Day) turned out winless for all Bajan horsemen at all venues in the United States. However the sun shone bright in Asia and Britain as jockey Louis Beuzelin and Sir Michael Stoute hit the winners’ enclosure.

Beuzelin won astride Voluminous to keep pace with the leading jockeys at Kranji Race Course while the Sir Michael-trained Aerion Power extended his winning streak at Doncaster.

In Singapore, Beuzelin moved within one victory of 100 career wins at Kranji when he booted home the six-year-old bay mare Voluminous in the day’s fifth race.

Gold Reward, Buddy Buddy and Asaad led the 14 runners in the Class 4 field over 1 800 metres on the good turf track. The trio posted the first quarter mile in 25.20 seconds, the half mile in a measured 48.31 seconds and three-quarter mile in 1:12.41 minutes with Voluminous sandwiched mid pack. (LY)
