Water-less residents ‘tired lifting buckets’

Despite consistent promises from Government officials that water relief is around the corner, many householders in eastern parishes say they have been suffering for too long with dry taps and are out of patience.

The people of Rock Hall, St Andrew, are fed up with the daily struggle to get drinking water; while some in Sherbourne, St John, said the supply had been unreliable since last year.

“I am tired lifting buckets but nobody seems to care. I understand it is dry season but we have not had water since October last year. We are not seeing anyone at all, except for when they come to dig up the road and leave,” said Renae Dottin, who lives in Rock Hall.

Farmer Peter Headley, who also made an impassioned plea for help, said the last time he saw water running from his taps was in April last year. (CA)
