One death, 3 new virus cases, 13 people recover

One person died as a result of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday, May 3.

The 63-year-old man was admitted to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility on April 23, and passed away after spending six days on a ventilator. His death brings to 45 the number of people who have succumbed to the virus.

Meanwhile, three new positive cases of COVID-19 – two men and one woman – were identified from among the 401 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Thirteen people recovered from the virus and were discharged. There are currently 81 people in isolation.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded since March 2020 have moved to 3 884 (1 887 females and 1 997 males), and there have been 3 817 recoveries.

The public health laboratory has conducted 155 353 tests.

Under the National Vaccination Programme, 75 006 vaccinations (first and second doses) have been administered.

To date, 19 985 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 during the second phase of the programme. (BGIS)
