Cave’s family wants to hold rally

The family of Shaquon Cave, who died while in police custody, made an application to the Commissioner of Police to stage a rally on Saturday.

Shaquon’s father Andrew Cave said in a press conference yesterday that the authorities were not doing enough in their investigation of the circumstances that led to his death, adding that there had been little communication between the force and the family about the matter.

Cave said once he attained the permit, the rally would be held at Independence Square, The City from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

During the press conference, president of the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration (CMPI) David Denny threw his support behind the rally stating that action had to be taken against police brutality at the national, regional and international front.

Shaquon died in police custody on April 10, 2020. (SB)
