Schools will have a nutrition policy in time for the 2021 to 2022 year.

It will review the School Meals Department, physical education programmes and offer more support to parents.

In addition, if the Ministry of Education has its way, foods such as macaroni pie will be prepared without cheese and physical activities such as zumba or spin classes will be incorporated into the physical education curriculum.

Acting Chief Education Officer Joy Adamson made that announcement recently during the Heart & Stroke Foundation/Barbados Association of Journalists and Media Workers’ Global Health Advocacy Incubator Workshop on Childhood Obesity Prevention on Zoom.   (TG)
