Animals heading to Canada in first Barbados ruffugee project

The Maloney hangar at the Grantley Adams International Airport is a hive of activity as the first ever Barbados ruffugee project takes off this morning.

And in about half hour 200 dogs and 14 cats will be winging their way to new homes in Canada.

The project is the brainchild of Ocean Acres Animal Rescue’s Karen Whittaker and brings together rescues from that St John facility as well as Barbados’ RSPCA, the Ark and Woodbourne Kennels. (HLE)
