A trail of blood was still visible outside Golden Shottz bar and restaurant in Massiah Street, St John when a Nation News team visited the area today.

The area was quiet, but reports are that a 44-year-old man was injured during a shooting incident this morning.

Proprietress of the bar Claudette Alleyne said she heard about ten gunshots around 8 a.m. but did not go outside.

“I didn’t see what happened with the shooting, but I heard the shots. There were about ten shots.

“I ain’t gine outside — that was my first reaction. My son was here and his girlfriend wanted to look outside. I told her no. I told her don’t even open the window.”

“When I came outside, I saw the trail of blood,” she said.

Alleyne said people travel from “all over” to patronise the bar and she hopes that business is not negatively affected.

She expressed concern about gun violence. “These guns and thing. I don’t know what is going on. Something needs to be done about these guns.”
