Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic says that a lack of adherence to COVID-19 protocols after school, is posing some challenges for Government’s effort to control the spread of the virus.

Bostic disclosed yesterday that one student at The Lester Vaughan Secondary School, linked to an emerging family cluster, tested positive for COVID-19. Bostic further explained that students attending another school had also been exposed and that contact tracing had begun.

“As a result of a developing family cluster of about three people, we have one positive case of a student from the Lester Vaughan Secondary School.

“As a result of aggressive contact tracing that started yesterday, we have been able to make some determinations in terms of the primary contacts and we have learned, for example, that there is some exposure at another Government secondary school because of post-school interaction between the positive case and students at another secondary school,” said Bostic, who was speaking during yesterday’s COVID-19 update.
