The Barbados Youth Action Programme (BYAP) is helping 30 young people to become agri-preneurs.

Yesterday, during a site visit at its base in Ashford, St John, assistant project lead Andrina Welch said the programme was based on training the youth in climate-smart sustainable and organic approaches to agriculture.

Welch said more young people were getting interested in farming as they were realising there was a wide variety of technological components to crop production, which opened many opportunities for employment.

She added participants also learnt they could develop value-added projects from crops they produced.
