Barbados is now battling three new COVID-19 clusters which have resulted in 29 new infections and more than 100 people in quarantine hotels awaiting testing.
This was disclosed by Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George, who told the country yesterday that there were two family clusters as well as another at a manufacturing plant.
This development comes after Barbados recorded several weeks with of few or zero cases, which resulted in Government announcing a further easing of restrictions by monthend.
However, George said that with the cooperation of the public, Barbados could bring this under control.
“Up to our last reporting period we have had a total of 29 cases and this is a cause of concern to the Ministry of Health. Fortunately, those cases have been identified in two family clusters and a manufacturing business. Out of those three clusters there was some school involvement, which are the Princess Margaret School and the Ann Hill School.” (CLM)
