Two men have been arrested following an alleged daring daylight robbery today.

Police public relations officer Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss said two “men of interest” aged 21 and 26, were swiftly apprehended after the alleged robbery of Savings Plus supermarket in Rock Dundo, St Michael.

“Police operations control received a report informing of a robbery at Savings Plus at Rock Dundo. It was alleged two persons had entered the establishment, armed with a firearm and a cutlass, and had robbed individuals of certain sums of monies.

“We immediately responded, searched the area, and were successful in apprehending two men of interest, as well as in recovering the firearm and cutlass. Those men are in custody and investigations are continuing. We appreciate the help of the public in this matter and encourage everyone to be safe in their everyday business operations and to focus on crime prevention techniques,” he said.

Police officers were on the scene when a Nation News team visited the location. An eyewitness said he saw two men, who appeared armed, walking away from the supermarket after 1 p.m.

At 3:30 p.m., staff were seen exiting the building and locking the supermarket doors. (CA)
