UPDATE: Police identify man fatally shot in The City

Police have launched an unnatural death investigation into the fatal shooting of Omar Rommell Boxhill, 35, of Streat’s Road, Flagstaff, St Michael.

A statement from police said officers “responded to a fatal shooting incident which occurred about 7 p.m. at the Constitution River Terminal in the area of the stalls”.

“Witnesses reported that they heard a number of gun shots in the area, and police in uniform who were stationed within the Terminal building were alerted by eyewitnesses, who led them to the area where the man received gunshot injuries.

“On arrival, police saw the lifeless body of a man sitting in a chair with visible injuries about his body.”

Police have asked anyone with information in relation to this fatal shooting to call Central Police station at 43-7676, Police Emergency or any police station.

In addition, while speaking at the Constitution River Terminal earlier, police public relations officer, acting inspector Rodney Inniss, confirmed that another man was shot in the stomach at Denton Road, Grazettes, also around 7 p.m.

When police officers arrived, they were told the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by private vehicle. Inniss said he was reportedly in stable condition and awaiting surgery. Investigations continue.
