Moments after admitting he had assaulted a 12-year-old girl, Noel Rommell Washington sought to convince the court the child had asked him to rape her.

“I just grabble her by the shoulders. She was asking me to rape she. It was just a simple situation,” he told the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

“Are you saying a 12-year-old girl asked you to rape her?” Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes asked in disbelief.

“Yes, sir,” Washington replied.

“We’ve got a problem,” the Chief Magistrate said, later noting: “I can’t have you out and about out there.” (HLE)
